History
Stratford Lodge # 332
was formed in 1875 at the time of the Railway Boom.
It was the third regular masonic lodge to be formed
in the area. The first was called Wellington Lodge,
originally under the Grand Lodge of Ireland in 1854,
and subsequently one of the first lodges to affiliate
with the Grand Lodge of Canada when it was formed in
1855. However, by 1858, it had gone into darkness.
The second to be formed was our sister lodge,
Tecumseh # 144 in 1861. Over the years both lodges
have figured prevalently in the reports of the DDGM
to Grand Lodge. In the year 2000, we celebrated our
125th Anniversary when, in conjunction with South
Huron District, we held a reception in honour of the
Grand Master. Stratford Lodge continues to be a
vibrant force in the community and is involved in
many worthwhile charitable projects, such as
Heartburn Days, Coats for Kids and the Gift of Sight
Program. Members of Stratford Lodge also contribute
funds to the Masonic Foundation of Ontario, which
gives generously to support numerous projects in
Ontario.
